Hey Taylor, are the zip ties on your torch cable cover to keep it from twisting and tangling? My cable cover constantly gets twisted up and tangled.
An Old Man Plays
7:58 Hi Taylor When using a large holesaw in your workshop you might want to comsider a cheap corded drill, it has 2 advantages - constant torque and much cheaper when it ruins the motor. (the bigger the holesaw the more strain on the tool throwing it)

Congrats on the new puppy! Can't wait to see him/her

part of your endtank is pointed right at your turbo inlet and you decided to punch a hole through the side of the end tank that is 90deg off from where you need to be??! what the fuck??
AUSTIN Month ago
@Taylor Ray I've built plenty of intercooler piping, it just obviously looks more achievable through the camera than it does in real life. At least tell me you're gonna duct all that properly and vent your hood so you actually get some positive airflow through it all
Taylor Ray
Taylor Ray Month ago
@AUSTIN it’s not. Not even close. It may look that way on camera or if you’ve never build intercooler piping but the pipe would have to do 2 90 degree bends in 2” even though it’s 3”‘in diameter. It’s no possible unless the core was 5” further that way and even then. Like just the pipe turned sideways would not fit between the core and turbo. Let alone two bends. It would have to be two u bends which would be more elaborate than a simple 90.
AUSTIN Month ago
And I didn't mean my first comment to convey any sort of dissatisfaction with what you ended up doing. Just a little disappointed you went for the straightforward solution instead of a more abstract, or artistic solution if you will
AUSTIN Month ago
@Taylor Ray it is tight but I think it was totally do-able with a different intercooler inlet placement and some strategic pie-cuttery. I was hoping you were gonna take the time to try out something along those lines. You've got the ability to do it, you just need to allow yourself the time. It always seems like you're in a hurry to get to the end goal, if you slowed down a touch I think you'd be extremely pleased with what you could whip up.
Taylor Ray
Taylor Ray Month ago
You do realize the turbo outlet is 2” from the end tank and offset 7”. Please explain how you would get a 3” pipe to offset 7” in 2” distance.

Taylor...the glue on the bench is lookin "DYNO-MITE!!!" I'll be doing the same. Also like a ½" thick, 18", 20", 24" (*??? - whatever the steel place has laying around) by ___” (see *) rectangular steel plate. Drill a hair over common diameter sizes, prolly start with .13∅, .26-ish, .32, .4, etc., etc, up to like 1.281 or so for getting a start knocking pins or bearings out of things. Got a mod in mind for my vise x-mas gift that SHOULD (fingers X'd) be pretty...neat? Functional? Aesthetically pleasing? I'll shoot for all of the above...maybe... hopefully...???.

this may be a dumb comment but it seems as if you never dip your tungsten and when I'm welding aluminum it seems like I spend more time cleaning the tungsten than I do welding wish I knew how to be better at it I just don't weld aluminum enough I know practice will make perfect over time! awesome fab work! one of my favorite things to do!

You should buy the air to hydraulic jack. Will make it easier to bend stuff in that bad ass press.
Bryan Turner

Coming from someone who ran a press brake for many years. You can do those close 90 degree bends with a gooseneck punch or if it hits and you need to squish it down, open the press and stick the part in and press down the 'C' from the side and push it down to bring the sides parallel to each other.

Just a tip when you weld the ends on that radiator it would be an easier fit up if you only tac one time on each side then add additional tacks, 4 tacks on one side will pull the gap bigger on the other side obviously and you can clamp it to pull it straight but then it just weakens the 4 tacks on the other side.

Slower speed and lube will net you a faster and cleaner cut with the hole saw. But then you have to clean up the lube before you weld

What camera set up do you use for vlogging?
Larry Hampton
Larry Hampton Month ago
So why didn't you leave the top and bottom of the end tanks on the piece before you bent it? Your press brake is a finger brake isn't it? After you bent the sides you take all the fingers out except the one that is closest to the width of the tank and the two sides will swing past the finger, then its 4 welds instead of 6.
The pro Syndicate
where did you get your welding gloves from ?

Amazon. They’re Tillman. I think 1418m or something like that. True fit I think they’re called. I love them.
Dead Pixel Media
you could have made that end tank all in one sheet, the brakek you have is a finger brake so it has the moveable / removable teeth, you could have cut the small ends as tabs and made those bends . a little work with a vice and some clamps after and it would have been super clean.

Good work T. Use some light painters tape next time to hold them pices on there just bearly push it on so you can just yank it off for the next piece....if one side is more uneven than the other use the sander on the opposite side to make flush...for the warp issue just make sure to just spot a couple areas on both sides then finish spotting and welding each side that way she wont pull away from yuh

Wow someone that knows what they are doing. Excellent job! Im a tig welder/ fabricator. You actually think things through. Good layout, planning, and designing where things need to go. It looks so clean and professional. There are way too many hacks on US-first that just slap things together for views with no planning whatsoever. Their cars dont function right and break constantly but people keep watching? It blows my mind

why not get a 3" dounut and make that radius out of the intercooler (as it is now) super tight, so that its still tucked up close to the cooler and itll be shorter piping??

Not to throw stones at you or anything but would it of not been easier to tack the pieces on the tank for fitment. Then break the tacks then weld them all off the core grind down any undesirable welds then weld the tanks to the core. Just a thought I had during the video.

Hey Taylor, seeing as you're having some issues with getting bends right with the new finger brake, I thought you could give this a shot us-first.info/player/video/fcyuZHt6p3aak2A.html. Basically a home made sheet metal folder/brake that should allow you to bend past 90 degrees, and it should help with the scoring issue when you make a bend. IMO the vids probably still worth the watch even if you dont build one
