Speaking from experience, go ahead and order about 10-15 of the Bessey style clamps in variable sizes... just wanna also inform you that you are about to be so spoiled that working on a regular table will now frustrate you 😂

When are you going to show us your plasma cutting table?
Jon Jenkins
Jon Jenkins 3 days ago
Because of the corner bend it could effect the flatness of that section. At least use a surface gage to check out the whole table. If you see a problem then you could take it to a shop with a big surface grinder which would be the most accurate or a Blanchard grinder shop. Hope it all works out. Great looking fixture table. Don't forget to check out the table flatness after you are done with the assembly it's important to know where you are at after it's all done.

Would also use a round India stone to keep all the bers off of your table so everything sits flat. It also a great way to keep it rust free and clean.

Roll that table over a tarp & coat the heck out out of the underside with WD-40... we're in Florida lol
jane blogs

Wd40 is just acetone, its under 2% fish oil. It doesn't prevent rust at all and is literally designed to evaporate spilt jet fuel/moisture. Loctite sell ceramic spray paint, designed for repelling mig weld BB's.

It should have clamped the intercooler to the side of your new work bench with the new bunghole facing straight up that way you could have just welded one complete ring all the way around without having to stop and keep rotating the intercooler. That's why there's holes on the side of your workbench for those clamps

Watching you do the temp sensor work on the intercooler, the new table giving you the EZ capability to hold something in place,, makes that table invaluable. Nice add to your shop Taylor and congrats on getting the table properly constructed. Nice to have something fit as it's supposed to isn't it. Certiflat Weld Tables (I see there are a number of vendors selling them) but it's nice, VERY nice.

could build the 4x8 on the lift, all overhead MIG though.. then you have to fit it through the door haha looks a hell of a lot nicer than the big 1/2in plate table we have at work also yeah when you work with mig and stick all the time, lenses last like a month, maybe 2.. with some softscrub in between

The Saturday Night Joke Two guys grow up together, but after college one moves to Georgia and the other to Texas. They agree to meet every ten years in Florida to play golf and catch up with each others stories. At age 32 they meet, finish their round of golf and head for lunch. "Where you wanna go?" "Hooters." "Why Hooters?" "They have those servers with the big boobs, the tight shorts and the gorgeous legs." "Perfect, you're on" At age 42, they meet and play golf again "Where you wanna go for lunch?" "Hooters." "Again? Why?" "They have cold beer, big screen TVs, and side action on the games." "Yeah, boy! Let's do it!" At age 52 they meet and play again. "So, where you wanna go for lunch?" "Hooters. "Why?" "The food is pretty good and there's plenty of parking." "OK." At age 62 they meet again. After a round of golf, one says, "Where you wanna go?" "Hooters." "Why?" "Wings are half price and the food isn't too spicy." "Good choice" At age 72 they meet again. Once again, after a round of golf, one says, "Where shall we go for lunch?" "Hooters." "Why?" "They have six handicapped parking spaces right by the door and they have senior discounts." "Great choice." At age 82 they meet and play again. "Where should we go for lunch?" "Hooters." "Why?" "Because we've never been there before." "OK, let's give it a try!"

Soak the table in WD40 and let it sit on it overnight then wipe it off the next day. It will really help keep weld spatter bouncing off instead of sticking to the table.

If you are going to add a shelf mid-way up from the casters, you might consider clamps that are not going to bump into the stored items that would be on the shelf below the holes in the table-top. Plus sparks do fall through holes.

Tip If you need to drill a hole and keep the shavings from getting into places you don't want them do one or more of these things. Tie a rag to a stick or wire ball it up and poke it down past where you're drilling then pull it back so that it will cup around where the dross will fall. Alternatively ball up some tape so that the sticky will catch the dross and put it on a stick. Fold a bit of cardboard into a V or U shape that will fit where it has to go put some tape across the open end to form a cup to catch the dross.
